Why do people buy brooms on Dhanteras:: Lord Dhanvantari, Maa Lakshmi and Lord Kuber are worshiped on Dhanteras. Diwali, the festival of lights, begins from Dhanteras itself. Dhanteras is mainly dedicated to Lord Dhanvantari. On this day people worship God for their prosperity. It is told in Hindu scriptures that Lord Dhanvantari had appeared with the nectar urn during the churning of the ocean. There is an ancient tradition of buying precious metals like peepal, gold and silver on the day of Dhanteras. Apart from this, buying a broom (Palm broom) on the day of Dhanteras is also considered auspicious. It is said that by buying a broom on the day of Dhanteras, Lakshmi resides in the house and gets rid of financial constraints. Apart from this, it is also a custom that whenever you bring a new broom to the house, tie a white thread on it, so that the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi remain in your house forever. According to religious beliefs, the broom is considered a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi, in which Goddess Lakshmi resides. On the day of Dhanteras, a broom is bought and brought and kept lying down. Keeping a broom standing is considered inauspicious. The broom should always be kept hidden and try not to touch it. It is considered disrespectful to Mother Lakshmi if she touches the broom with her feet. Broom is used to clean the dirt inside our house. Due to this, cleanliness remains inside the house, which is a big reason for the health of the family members. By staying clean there would be positivity in the house.
